Skeleton Athlete Kim Meylemans wins European Championship gold + World Cup in St. Moritz

Silver for Stoecker, bronze for Pfeifer, Curtis and Silveira take second + third place in World Cup

St. Moritz – Celerina (RWH) European Championship gold, World Cup victory and track record for skeleton athlete Kim Meylemans (BEL). At the IBSF World Cup in St. Moritz – Celerina (SUI), which also counts as the continental championship for European athletes, the Belgian secured her third IBSF World Cup victory of the season with two fastest runs and a track record (1:10.23 minutes), winning European Championship gold for the second time after 2024.

In second place in the World Cup, US athlete Kelly Curtis (1.11 seconds behind) celebrated her second podium finish after bronze in December 2022 and her best ever placing in the race series. Nicole Rocha Silveira from Brazil (1.17 seconds behind), eighth after the first World Cup run, finished third in the final on the Olympia Bobrun in St. Moritz – Celerina and celebrated her first podium finish in the Olympic winter.

In the European Championship ranking of the World Cup, Britain’s Tabitha Stoecker (fourth in the World Cup) took silver ahead of 2018 Olympic silver medallist Jacqueline Pfeifer (GER, fifth in the World Cup) with bronze.

Julia Erlacher from Austria, who was a surprise second after the first run following a start record (5.18 seconds), fell back to 15th place in the final.

In the overall standings for the 2025/2026 IBSF World Cup in Women’s Skeleton is Kim Meylemans (BEL, 1243 points) on her way to her first overall victory ahead of the final. Jacqueline Pfeifer (GER, 1113) is second after six of seven races in the 2025/2026 Olympic season. World Cup title defender Janine Flock from Austria (1102 points), who finished 20th in St. Moritz – Celerina, fell back to third place overall.
