Lochner crowns 25th 2-man Bob World Cup victory with European Championship gold

Walker sets track record and wins World Cup, Beierl takes silver and first medal for Austria

St. Moritz – Celerina (RWH) Bobsleigh pilot Melanie Hasler (SUI) is the 2026 European Champion in Women’s Monobob. On her home track in St. Moritz – Celerina (SUI), Hasler became the first Swiss athlete to win the title in the discipline, which is on the Olympic programme for the second time at the upcoming 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina. The last and previously only Swiss women’s bobsleigh European Champion was Fabienne Meyer in the 2-woman Bobsleigh in 2014.

The victory in the IBSF World Cup, which also counts as the continental championship for athletes from Europe, was secured by Australia’s Bree Walker. With a track record (1:11.20 minutes) and a 0.53-second lead, she relegated Melanie Hasler to second place in the World Cup standings with her third victory of the season. Katrin Beierl (AUT, 0.68 seconds behind) celebrated silver in third place at the IBSF World Cup, securing Austria’s first European Championship medal in the Women’s Monobob.

Laura Nolte, 2025 European Monobob Champion, finished sixth in the World Cup behind Olympic Champion Kaillie Armbruster Humphries (USA) and Canada’s Melissa Lotholz, securing the European bronze medal as the third-best European. Nolte has now won five medals in the five IBSF European Championships in Women’s Monobob to date.

Simona de Silvestro from Italy, host of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, celebrated the best World Cup result of her career in St. Moritz – Celerina. The former racing driver finished 15th in the Monobob World Cup.

In the overall standings for the 2025/2026 IBSF World Cup, Laura Nolte (GER, 1246 points) defended her lead ahead of Bree Walker (AUS, 1219). Third overall is Lisa Buckwitz (GER, 1128), who finished seventh in St. Moritz – Celerina. Buckwitz set the start record (5.75 seconds) on the Olympia Bobrun in the second run.
