Thrilling Races at the FIL EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup

At the FIL EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup on February 28, top-class performances were once again on display. In the women’s singles event, Julia Taubitz (GER) claimed victory with a total time of 1:48.144 minutes. Her teammate Merle Fraebel (GER) followed in second place with 1:48.265 minutes, while Verena Hofer (ITA) secured third place in 1:48.369 minutes to complete the podium. The best and only Swiss athlete in the race was Natalie Maag, who finished sixth with a time of 1:48.626 minutes.

In the women’s doubles competition, Andrea Voetter and Marion Oberhofer (ITA) took the win with a time of 1:48.506 minutes. The German duo Elisa-Marie Storch and Pauline Patz finished second in 1:49.101 minutes. Close behind them were Anda Upite and Madara Pavlova (LAT), who placed third with a time of 1:49.111 minutes.

The men’s doubles race delivered particularly thrilling action. Thomas Steu and Wolfgang Kindl (AUT) won in 1:46.693 minutes, edging out Ivan Nagler and Fabian Malleier (ITA) by just four thousandths of a second, as the Italians clocked 1:46.697 minutes. Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt (GER) completed the podium with a time of 1:46.807 minutes.

Once again, the World Cup day highlighted how closely matched the world’s top athletes are in the sport of luge, delivering exciting decisions right down to the finish line.
