Zern leads German triple podium at the Junior World Championships in men’s two-man bobsleigh

The IBSF Junior World Championships in men’s two-man bobsleigh were dominated by German teams. In a thrilling and extremely close race, Laurin Zern and Erik Leypold claimed the Junior World Championship title with a total time of 2:14.33 minutes.

Just 0.01 seconds behind, Tobias Dostthaler and Felix Dahms finished in second place with a time of 2:14.34 minutes. Completing the all-German podium were Alexander Czudaj and Bruno Götzel, who secured third place in 2:14.97 minutes (+0.64).

From a Swiss perspective, Jan Scherrer and Tobias Gnägi finished seventh overall with a total time of 2:16.47 minutes (+2.14), delivering two solid runs. Close behind, Sven Luca Renggli and Livio Maly placed eighth in 2:16.48 minutes (+2.15).

Alongside the junior competition, the U23 classification of the Junior World Championships was also decided. Renars Grantins and Nils Meijers of Latvia claimed gold in this category with a time of 2:15.32 minutes. Silver went to Martin Kranz and Tim Kesseler from Liechtenstein (2:15.60 minutes, +0.28), while Jonathan Lourimi and Seweryn Sosna secured bronze in 2:16.15 minutes (+0.83).

In the U23 standings, Swiss duo Sven Luca Renggli and Livio Maly narrowly missed out on the podium, finishing fourth with a total time of 2:16.48 minutes (+1.16).
