4-Man Bobsleigh: Double Victory for Germany at the last day of the First IBSF World Cup Week

Olympic champion and world champion Francesco Friedrich (GER) secured victory at the IBSF World Cup in four-man bobsleigh, setting a new season track record in the process. In a thrilling race that couldn’t have been more exciting, two teams were tied for the lead after the first run: Brad Hall (GBR) and Johannes Lochner (GER). Just one hundredth of a second behind them were the Swiss team led by Michael Vogt and Team Friedrich (GER). In the end, however, it was Friedrich and his team – Matthias Sommer, Alexander Schüller, and Felix Straub – who took the lead with a time of 1:04.31 minutes.

Johannes Lochner, who finished with Georg Fleischhauer, Erec Bruckert, and Florian Bauer, had to settle for second place, just 0.23 seconds behind Friedrich. They were closely followed by the British team of Brad Hall, Taylor Lawrence, Leon Greenwood, and Greg Cackett, who landed in third place with a deficit of 0.30 seconds.

Local hero Michael Vogt and his team, consisting of Dominik Schläpfer, Dominik Hufschmid, and Andreas Haas, missed the podium by only one hundredth of a second but celebrated their best four-man bobsleigh result of the season. Adam Ammour (GER) with Issam Ammour, Benedikt Hertel, and Rupert Schenk rounded out the ranking in fifth place. A second Swiss crew, made up of Timo Rohner, Gregory Jones, Tim Annen, and Mathieu Hersperger (Rohner Bulls), also contributed to the extended four-man bobsleigh podium. Team Follador (SUI) finished in ninth place.

In the overall standings of the IBSF World Cup 2024/25, after the third of a total of eight season races, defending champion Francesco Friedrich (GER) leads with 660 points. Brad Hall (GBR) follows in second place with 609 points, while Johannes Lochner (GER) holds third place with 596 points. The Swiss teams are ranked sixth (Team Follador), eighth (Rohner Bulls), and tenth (Team Vogt).
