First Monobob World Cup victory for US pilot Elana Meyers Taylor

World Cup victory number 20, but the first in monobob: American Elana Meyers Taylor won the fifth race of the IBSF World Cup 2024/25 today. The first season victory for the Olympic silver medalist in the IBSF World Cup marked her 20th overall in her athletic career, but it was the first in the solo discipline of women’s bobsleigh. With a new season track record from the second run (1:10.32 minutes), Olympic silver medalist Elana Meyers Taylor outpaced Breeana Walker from Australia (0.24 seconds behind) to take second place. World Cup rank three went to Kaysha Love (USA, 0.55 seconds back) at the Olympia Bob Run.

World Championship bronze medalist Lisa Buckwitz (GER), who had recently achieved three consecutive victories, finished in fourth place in after setting a start record (5.71 seconds). Junior world champion Debora Annen (SUI), who was in third place on home ice after the first run, narrowly missed her first World Cup podium finish, coming in fifth just three hundredths of a second behind. Sixth place went to Kim Kalicki (GER), while the second Swiss competitor, Melanie Hasler, finished in eighth.

In the overall standings of the IBSF World Cup 2024/25, Lisa Buckwitz (GER, 1077 points) defended her lead after five out of eight races, ahead of Breeana Walker (AUS, 986). World champion Laura Nolte (GER, 971), who had previously been on the podium three times in the winter of 2024/25, finished the monobob World Cup today in ninth place and remains in third overall.
