The IBSF Para Sport World Championships took place on 31 January and 1 February, with the athletes competing over a total of four runs across two race days. The event delivered exciting and high-level racing, with extremely close margins separating the top contenders.
In the end, Flavio Menardi (ITA) emerged victorious, securing the world championship title with a total time of 4:54.85. He was followed closely by Robert Balk (USA), who finished just 0.26 seconds behind in 4:55.11. From a Swiss perspective, Christopher Stewart (SUI) provided a highlight performance, claiming the bronze medal with a total time of 4:55.77, only 0.92 seconds off the winning pace.
Strong performances were also seen just outside the podium positions. Jonas Frei (SUI) narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing an excellent fourth with a time of 4:55.79. Last year’s defending champion, Corie Mapp (GBR), concluded the competition in sixth place after four runs, recording a total time of 4:56.42.
