Red River Sport British Open Monobob Championships – High-Level Racing Over Two Heats
Last Thursday, the Red River Sport & British Open Monobob Championships took place, with all titles decided over two heats. Consistency, clean driving lines and strong start performances were key factors throughout an exciting competition.
Overall victory went to Franz Gross (BCF), who claimed the title with a combined time of 2:26.16. Two very consistent runs secured him the top step of the podium. Michael Bonifazi (SMDC) followed in second place with a total time of 2:27.63, narrowly ahead of Alexander Kloster-Jensen (SMDC), who completed the podium in 2:27.66.
The additional classifications were just as fiercely contested. In the Fastest Buck category, Adam Cakebread (SMDC) took the win with a total time of 2:30.54, ahead of Julian Wakeham (SMHC) in 2:32.27.
The Fastest Beginner title was claimed by Tom Williams with a combined time of 2:34.24. In the Fastest British ranking, Geoffrey Pooley came out on top with 2:28.62, followed by Adam Cakebread (SMDC) and James Sunley (IMBC) in second and third place respectively.
The Iron Lady category showcased strong performances from the female athletes. Lela Burkard secured victory in 2:34.77, ahead of Millie Burkard (2:40.26) and Anna Erat (2:42.38).
Outstanding start performances also played a decisive role. The fastest start time of the event was recorded by Franz Gross (BCF) with 5.79 seconds, followed by Alexander Kloster-Jensen (6.07) and Jean-Marc Le Calvez (6.26).
In the Fastest Senior classification, Joe Della Santina claimed first place with a total time of 2:28.30, ahead of James Sunley (IMBC) and Chris Zollinger (SMBC).
The event concluded with an exciting Handicap Race, where Adam Cakebread took victory in 2:23.54, narrowly ahead of Julian Wakeham (2:23.87) and Martin Arnold (2:24.16).
A highly successful event featuring tight margins, impressive starts and excellent consistency over two heats.
