Master World Trophy

And then everything turned out differently

The Master World Trophy was to take place for the first time this year and was planned as an open 2-run race for all age groups. The focus was to be on getting together, enjoying the sport and socialising. Many teams, athletes and teams from different nations were registered. In view of the weather forecast and the fact that the Olympia Bob Run was not fit for use, some teams/athletes understandably decided not to take part.

Nevertheless, the tower team of the world’s only natural ice bobsleigh track wanted to offer all those present a great weekend and so they came up with a replacement programme without further ado.

Day 1: Scala Museum St. Moritz

So this year it was decided to organise a special Master World Trophy with three disciplines. Firstly, they went to the → Museum Scala St. Moritz, where the participants were warmly welcomed, were able to visit the museum, enjoyed an aperitif… and raced for the best time on the unique slide. German bobsleigh driver Jochen Herz and Swedish skeleton athlete Anders Bergkvist won this discipline by an incredible 5.7 seconds. Third place went to the German luger Jens Friedrich and the Swedish skeleton athlete Roberth Klarqvist (time 5.8 seconds).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Museum Scala St. Moritz for spontaneously organising the partial event.

Day 1: Children's bobsleigh run

Then it was off to the children’s bobsleigh run for the next discipline. Participants had to go down the children’s bobsleigh run and run back to the start. The winners in this event: gold went to Phil Fehse (Switzerland; 24.02 seconds). Second place went to Tobias Baumann (GER; 25.6 seconds). Nicola Zäch (26.62 seconds) finished the race in third place.

In the evening, Team Baumann organised a great evening at the Horse Shoe. We would like to thank them for the great party. The best stylistic performances in the Museum Scala and on the children’s bobsleigh run were also honoured: German luger Norbert Nirsberger and Stefan Hirnböck (GER) won this award.

Day 2: Fun with children's bobsleds

The final discipline was contested on day two: The Olympia Bob Run of the 2023/24 season was run one last time…. with children’s bobsleighs, from the start to the Horse Shoe. This event was won by Swiss bobsleigh pilot Marc Meile (1:04.32 minutes), who kindly got the sleds in shape for everyone. Second place went to the manager of the Olympia Bob Run – Gregor Stähli (1:07.63 minutes). Phil Fehse (pusher of Marc Meile; 1:08.91) finished the race in third place.

Phil Fehse took the overall honours in all disciplines ahead of Anders Bergkvist (Sweden) and Marc Meile. The Swiss skeleton athlete Pascal Lüthi received an honourable mention.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants. Together, we were able to turn this sad situation into a wonderful experience that we will remember forever.
