The exceptionally warm temperatures of the past few days were very hard on the Olympia Bob Run, the only natural ice bobsleigh track in the world. The track and tower teams fought together to keep the track running, but unfortunately nature had the upper hand in this race. So yesterday, Sunday 3 March 2024, the head of track construction and the track team had to announce that it was no longer possible to finish the season (planned until Sunday 10 March 2024). The track had suffered too much from the warm temperatures (as a result, the ice is far too soft) and it is therefore no longer possible to run on it for safety reasons.
The weather forecasts for the coming days did not predict any really cold temperatures either, meaning that a safe track could no longer be guaranteed. So it was with a sad heart that we had to announce the last “Terminato, terminato, terminato” for the 2023/24 season yesterday and hand over the bobsleigh run and the children’s bobsleigh run to nature in their entirety.
Many thanks
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the athletes, coaches, the communities of St. Moritz and Celerina, sponsors and partners, honorary officials, volunteers, guest pilots and brakemen and everyone who has supported and been with us this season.
